Finding Glenwood Springs Dining Opportunity
Exploring Aspen Night Life
With so many daytime activities, it can be difficult to remember that Aspen night life is a big part of what makes this little burgh nestled high up in in the Rocky Mountains such a wildly popular hangout.
The thing about night life in Aspen is you can go right downtown and go to comfortable neighborhood taverns, raucous and loud pubs, or tranquil bars with a three-piece blues act – all within steps. Or you can head up to one of the chic and trendy hotel clubs popular with the jet set and celebrities. There is also a more academic aspect to Aspen that can be satisfying as well as intriguing.
39 Degrees within the ritzy Sky Hotel at the foot of Aspen Mountain is an completely unique experience alone. The décor is ultra stylish, laid out with truly extraordinary design, incorporating imaginative colors and patterns, and great lighting to establish the ambiance. You can count on a fun group milling around the bar for one of their artsy cocktails.
The local gang and visitors alike throng to Belly Up Aspen, a stylish little bar downtown that seats a little over 400 so you are up close and personal with the impressive live music acts that perform most night. BUA has played host to such big name acts as Blues Traveler, Wyclef Jean, ZZ Top, and The Raconteurs.

Zane’s Tavern is a favorite Aspen sports bar, but their food choices go far past the usual bar grub. It is almost a contradiction, but the food at this sports bar is actually creative, delicious, and well prepared. The people are always a great mix of locals and visitors.
If you are little more hardcore, you will want to make a visit to Bad Billy’s, a biker bar with an Aspen tilt. The rock and roll is loud and the atmosphere is wildly merry, but it is generally tame – just great eats, with cheap pool and happy hours specials daily.
For the more highbrow gang – or those just hoping to be exposed to something different – there are many famous and effective cultural and intellectual organizations in Aspen and they regularly stage some sort of evening event.
The Aspen Music Festival and School puts on numerous shows ranging from piano recitals to symphony performances. Numerous guest conductors grace the stage and expand the learning curve for local musicians.
Political, social, economic and even metaphysical discussion is the forte of the Aspen Institute, which organizes the Aspen Ideas Festival and many other speakers throughout the year. This is the sophisticated end of Aspen night life. Many of the evening speeches are given in the renowned Wheeler Opera House.
