Apostles Church
1 of the oldest churches from Bucharest (having parts dating back to 16th century as well as a steeple built in 1715), Apostles’ Church is filled with several strange portraits that are well worth visiting.
Biserica Patriarhiei
Set atop one of town’s several hills, known as Mitropoliei, Town Church its been the centerpiece of Romanian Orthodox faith from 17th era. This church was in fact built by- Serban Basarab, ruler of province of Walachia around 1656 to 1658, with a concept inspired by Curtea de Arges Chapel.
This had become a Town Church within 1668 and the seat of Romanian Orthodox Church in 1925.
The interior, that contain the most amazing of the municipality’s iconostasis, as well as a pair of exceptionally designed altars, bestows nice beauty in the services presided by Romanian Patriarch. A huge crowd gathers here on Easter midnight services.
A exceptional bell-tower at the front door has been designed in 1698 and repaired around 1958. Right next to the church, and also closed for the large public, stands out as the Patriarchal Palace (1708), residence for the Teoctist, supreme chief of the Romanian Orthodox Church.
Stavropoleos Church (Biserica Stavropoleos)
The Stavropoleos Church has been constructed in 1724 by the Greek Ioanikie Stratonikeas. Having a mix of Romanian and Byzantine design, it features a beautiful façade along with a smoothly etched columned entry. Flanked by a peaceful back garden, it is really an architectural gem, having beautiful wall-painted and wood-painted icons. The service (in Romanian) is worth viewing if you can find room in this small and cozy church.

Built of red stone in between 1873 to 1884, this unique Roman Catholic cathedral is really an architectural masterpiece mixing both gothic and Roman elements. Orga recitals are held each week.
